Legislative Update – March 1, 2018

The House and Senate budget plans were debated and approved on their respective floors last Thursday. Budget conferees have been appointed and will be trying to work toward a compromise. However, before the two plans can be reconciled, the issue of expanding access to health care must be resolved.

Legislative Update – February 23, 2018

As explained in the Legislative Update earlier this week, the House and Senate reported their proposed amendments to the introduced budget for FY19/FY20 on Sunday. Additional details on their respective changes were released on Tuesday, followed by discussion and votes on the changes on the House and Senate floors yesterday. The House approved its version of the budget on a 68 to 32 vote, while the Senate plan was endorsed 25 to 15.

TJPD Commission – 3/1/18 Meeting Agenda

The TJPDC is guided by a locally appointed, twelve member Commission, of which at least 51% are local elected officials. Member localities include the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson. Commission meetings, which are open to the public, are held the first Thursday of each month at 7 pm in the TJPDC Office.

Legislative Update – February 16, 2018

The House and Senate money committees have worked this week to craft amendments to the introduced budget for FY19/FY20. The House Appropriations Committee will meet at 1 pm on Sunday to present its recommendations, while the Senate Finance Committee gathers at 5 pm to release its proposed amendments. Look for an update early next week containing highlights of the proposed House and Senate budget plans.

Legislative Update – February 9, 2018

The pace was hectic at the General Assembly this past week, as committees were working feverishly to clear their dockets of legislation prior to next Tuesday’s deadline for considering bills in their introduced chamber. Several Senate Committees had completed their dockets early last week, and floor sessions lengthened toward the end of the week, with longer sessions anticipated Monday and Tuesday.

Request for Proposals: Part Time Accounting and Human Resources Services

The TJPDC is seeking a part-time accounting consulting service to perform accounting, payroll and human resource services. The TJPDC requires an on-site person with governmental and accrual accounting or bookkeeping experience for approximately 20 hours per week. A Certified Public Accountant is preferred.
