Town Vision

Through community input and a series of Council retreats, the Mineral Town Council adopted this Vision Statement:

“Mineral is a friendly, caring community, enhanced by civic pride and Town beautification. Mineral has improved transportation for walkers, bicyclists, and motorists; a revitalized economy, and recognizes its historic heritage.”

This vision helps establish the framework for this project, with a focus on Town beautification, a revitalized economy, and recognition of the Town’s historic heritage.

About This Project

To help achieve this vision, the Town applied for and received a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Planning Grant for Business District Revitalization. The Planning Grant activities position the Town to apply for a full CDBG Community Improvement Grant.

CDBG is federally-funded grant administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). DHCD provides funding for projects including housing, infrastructure, and economic development. Up to $700,000 - $1,000,000 is available for individual projects.

Mineral has experienced declines in population, commerce, and in the condition of its buildings. This project is designed to reverse this trend through economic development and improvements to commercial and residential buildings.
