Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville has recently completed four homes in the City of Charlottesville. The organization dedicated one of the homes on November 4th at a community event. The home is a four bedroom, two bath, 1440 square foot attached single family home, with a driveway. The sale price will be $279,900 and the home will be sold to a family making 27-50% area median income (AMI.) The affordability period for the home is 30 years. Some amenities of the neighborhood include quick access to restaurants, gas stations, and markets at Fry’s Spring Station, health resources at the Fontaine Research Park, and easy access to I-64 and other major highways. Financing of $20,000 of these homes’ cost was provided by Virginia Housing’s PDC Development Grant, thus making the selling price more affordable to a Habitat partner family.
These homes in Charlottesville, along with five other single-family attached homes built in the County of Louisa by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville, and one single-family detached home in Fluvanna County, built by Fluvanna Habitat for Humanity, represent 10 affordable homes constructed in the PDC region using grant funding from this program.
