      RideShare, a program of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC), is proud to announce the success of its third annual Bike Month Business Challenge, held throughout May in celebration of National Bike Month. This year’s challenge saw record participation and demonstrated the growing community commitment to active transportation, sustainability, and healthier commuting options across the region.ResultsA total of 26 local businesses and organizations participated in this year’s challenge, collectively achieving impressive results:• 4,702 total miles biked by participating employees• 1,355 bike trips logged throughout the month• 1.82 tons…

    Seniors Invited to Explore Public Transit at Workshops

    PATH, in collaboration with Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) and The Center at Belvedere, invites all older adults to attend the upcoming Travel Training Workshops.These interactive sessions provide comprehensive information on using public transit and an overview of transportation services available to residents of Charlottesville and the surrounding counties.     June 2026 Commission Meeting Updates

    The TJPD Commission met on June 4 and addressed the following topics:1) Presented Keith Smith with a Resolution of Appreciation for his 15 years of service on the TJPD Commission, which included many years serving as the Commission’s Treasurer and this past year as Chair.2) Approved a resolution supporting the submission of Smart Scale applications requesting transportation funding by the localities, specifically for two projects each in Greene and Nelson Counties.  3) Adopted a resolution to authorize the renewal of the Executive Director’s employment agreement.4) Approved a slate of officers…

    PATH Continues Community Outreach

    PATH recently participated in a variety of community activities focused on improving access to local transportation options and helping residents build confidence in using public transit services.PATH and Jaunt conducted hands-on travel training with the Fluvanna County High School Special Education program. PATH also participated in a Lunch and Learn for Fluvanna County residents as part of their bimonthly webinar series.     Rain Barrel Workshop Program

    So far this fiscal year, two successful rain barrel workshops were held across the region in partnership with our local Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the James River Association! Thirty participants from the City of Charlottesville and Fluvanna County learned how to assemble and install rain barrels at home and received a 55-gallon drum.Every time it rains, stormwater carries things such as fertilizers, pet waste, and chemicals from herbicides and pesticides to local waterways.
