    Lori Allshouse, VATI Program DirectorLori Allshouse joined the TJPD in February 2022 as the VATI Program Director. In this role, she is directing TJPDC’s super regional broadband project, conducted in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Telecommunication Initiative, Firefly Fiber Broadband, partner counties, and supporting electric utility providers.     Watershed Filmmaking and Mapping

    This past fall, the Lewis & Clark Exploratory Center received grants from Crutchfield and from the Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band to launch our Watershed Filmmaking and Mapping Workshops in 2023. With these workshops, we teach students how to document our rivers and streams, giving hands-on experience at our site at Trevillian’s Creek and on the Rivanna River.

    Ryan Mickles, Regional Planner TransportationRyan re-joined the staff at the TJPDC last January, having previously worked here after graduating from UVA with a double major in Urban Planning and Anthropology.     HOME-ARP Public Hearing on February 2nd

    The Thomas Jefferson HOME Consortium will hold a public hearing for the HOME-American Rescue Plan (ARP) grant, both virtually and in-person, on Thursday, February 2nd at 7:00 pm. Information will be shared on the HOME-ARP eligible activities and “qualifying populations.”The 2.4 million HOME-ARP grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and is being administered by the TJPDC, with funds allocated to the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Nelson,and Louisa, and the City of Charlottesville. Eligible activities that may be undertaken with HOME-ARP funds include:Development and…

    Housing Preservation Grant Awarded

    TJPDC has received $215,000 for the Federal Fiscal Year 2023 from the USDA Rural Housing Service Housing Preservation Grant program. The funding will be used to repair and rehabilitate housing owned or occupied by low-income rural residents in rural parts of Albemarle, Greene, Fluvanna, Louisa, and Nelson counties.We anticipate financing the repair and rehabilitation of 40 homes with this year’s funding, and appreciate sub-recipients  NCCDF, AHIP, FLHF, and Skyline CAP partnering with us to complete this important work.If you or someone you know needs services, please reach out through the…

    The 2023 General Assembly session gaveled to order on Wednesday, January 11th. The session runs 46 days and is scheduled to end on February 25. During the course of the session, legislators likely will consider more than 2,000 bills and hundreds of resolutions. Amendments to the current two-year state budget also will be crafted. “Cross-over day,” the last day for each house to act on its own bills, is February 7.
