Khansa Ghumman, Regional Affordable Housing VISTAKhansa joined the TJPDC in August as the Regional Affordable Housing VISTA. She is a fourth-year at the University of Virginia studying Philosophy with minors in Business and Politics, and service has been a big part of my time here! Governor’s Commission on Unlocking Housing Production Meets

The Commission on Unlocking Housing Production, established by Executive Order 3, met for the first time in early September. The Commission is charged with reviewing and evaluating reports from state agencies on ways to expedite housing production, to include suggestions for legislative, regulatory, and administrative changes to remove barriers and facilitate housing production. 2026 RRBC Conference Keynote Speaker Announced

The Rivanna River Basin Commission 2026 Conference has announced the keynote speaker, Kristal McKelvey, Chief Recreation Grants Manager for Virginia DCR. Deputy Secretary of Transportation Visits TJPDC

Virginia Deputy Secretary of Transportation, Laura Schewel, was in Charlottesville last month and spent some time with the TJPDC transportation planning staff. We had the opportunity to update her on transportation planning activities at TJPDC, including work on Smart Scale applications, activities of the Charlottesville Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the Safe Streets and Roads for All plan and projects. Schewel also shared transportation priorities of the Governor Spanberger administration.
