    Isabella O’Brien, Environmental PlannerIsabella joined the TJPDC in 2021 as a regional planner, working primarily as the lead staff person on the TJPDC’s environmental programs; including the Solid Waste Management Program, the Watershed Implementation Plan, and the Rivanna River Basin Commission’s staff support.     Zion Crossroads Gateway Plan

    The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission is in the final stages of wrapping up the Zion Crossroads Gateway Plan.  The goal of this plan was to create a unified vision for the development of the Zion Crossroads growth area that could be shared between Louisa and Fluvanna Counties.  The plan, partially funded through the Rural Transportation Program, had a strong emphasis on identifying needed transportation system improvements and was accompanied by a technical study completed by Kittelson & Associates, Inc. under contract with the Virginia Department of Transportation.  Final recommendations…

This community, Houchens Place, is located in Fluvanna County, just off SR 600, northwest of Palmyra at 440 Charney Way. The home is a three bedroom, two bath 1,432 square foot single family home, with a driveway and detached shed.     Stanardsville’s Streetscape Project

    The grand finale of the Stanardsville's Streetscape Project came to a close on September 22nd with the unveiling of the new pedestrian bridge. The 42 foot steel bridge spans Mitchell Creek on the east side of town. The project is part of the multi-year Stanardsville Area Revitalization, STAR project. STAR has been funded by VDOT and a local match, comprised of funds from both individuals and businesses.     Ian Baxter, Regional PlannerIan joined the TJPDC in July 2021 as a Regional Planner, working primarily as the lead staff for the Regional Housing Partnership, and managing state housing grants for the region.
