The Transportation Team both hosted and attended multiple events this fall.CA-MPO and SAW- MPO Joint MeetingCharlottesville-Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization (CA-MPO) and the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro (SAW-MPO) came together on September 30, 2025, for their biennial Joint Policy Board Meeting at the North Fork Meeting Center in Charlottesville. The meeting included presentations on the Afton Express, CARTA, Statewide Rail Planning and the Three Notched Trail. TJPDC “Learning” Field Trip Heads to Greene County

TJPDC staff continued its series of professional development field trips to our region’s localities by spending much of November 7 in Greene County. The day began at the Greene County Visitor Center with an overview and discussion of current and future development projects in the county. Staff then toured numerous sites in the Ruckersville area to view and hear about ongoing residential and commercial development, as well as how the county is working to meet the challenges brought on by the growth and development. November 2025 Commission Meeting Updates

The TJPD Commission met on November 6, with the following items on the agenda:The FY25 Annual Financial Audit report was presented to both the Finance/Executive Committee and to the Commission. TJPDC had a “clean” audit for FY25 and the Audit report was accepted.Several changes to the agency Financial Management Policy, including those to clearly stipulate how payroll is processed, were presented and approved.The Commission accepted a Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) grant for regional water supply planning and authorized the Executive Director to take all action necessary to manage the…

TJPDC invites community members to participate in a survey to inform the region's five-year update to the Solid Waste Management Plan. The goal of this regional plan is to help Albemarle, Charlottesville, Greene, and Fluvanna Counties achieve state-mandated recycling goals and reduce landfill waste over the next 20 years. Rain Barrel Workshops this Fall

The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission has supported six successful rain barrel workshops across the region so far this year in partnership with our local Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the James River Association! Participants learned how to assemble and install rain barrels at home and received a 55-gallon drum.Every time it rains, stormwater carries things such as nutrients from fertilizers, bacteria from pet waste, and chemicals from herbicides and pesticides to local waterways.
