    August 2025 Commission Meeting Updates

    The TJPD Commission met on August 7 and addressed the following topics:Presentation on Area Types for SMART SCALE;FFY25 Housing Preservation Grant presentation and Inter-Governmental Review; Annual Adoption of Remote Electronic Meeting Participation Policy.The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for September 4.     PATH offers Transportation Assistance Fund

    PATH offers financial assistance for individuals facing urgent transportation needs that other transportation services can't meet.The Transportation Assistance Fund (TAF) is a last resort for older adults and people with disabilities who live in areas where there are few transportation options. The TAF serves the city of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson.  PATH can help with covering the cost of transportation in critical situations.     Planning for Agricultural Toolkit

    American Farmland Trust (AFT) works nationwide, and in Virginia, to protect farmland, promote sound farming practices, and support farm economies. AFT and its partners are looking to advance a future for farming grounded in policy, partnerships, and community-based planning.A key effort is the Planning for Agriculture in Virginia initiative, designed to help local leaders protect farmland, boost farm viability, and encourage conservation-based practices. TJPDC Deputy Director David Blount has been serving on an advisory committee to the initiative. The toolkit is expected to be launched sometime this fall.
