TJPDC 2025-2026 AmeriCorps VISTA Position

TJPDC seeks a dedicated AmeriCorps VISTA member to build the capacity of the Central Virginia Regional Housing Partnership (CVRHP). The VISTA will develop tools, resources, and frameworks that enable the organization to more effectively serve low-income populations long after the service term ends. The VISTA member will enhance stakeholder engagement by designing communication toolkits and relationship management guides for CVRHP members. To support organizational sustainability, they will create grant calendars, funding databases, event templates, and evaluation tools. Taylor Jenkins, Director of TransportationTaylor Jenkins joined the TJPDC in January 2025 as Director of Transportation. She holds a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and a Bachelor's Degree in Black/Women’s Studies, all from Virginia Commonwealth University. Public Comment Period Open for Two TJPDC Programs

Both the HOME Consortium Draft 2025 Annual Action Plan and the Charlottesville-Albemarle MPO Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) are open for public comment.The Thomas Jefferson HOME Consortium is administered by the TJPDC for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Annual Action Plan is for Program Year 2025. The HOME Consortium is made up of all member jurisdictions in the TJPDC, and each locality has chosen HOME subrecipients. Rain Barrel Workshops

The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission hosted two successful rain barrel workshops in Greene and Albemarle Counties this Spring in partnership with our local Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the James River Association. Participants learned how to assemble and install rain barrels at home and received a 55-gallon drum. Every time it rains, stormwater carries things such as nutrients from fertilizers, bacteria from pet waste, and chemicals from herbicides and pesticides to local waterways. Using a rain barrel at home is a way to reduce stormwater pollution and conserve water.…
