April 2025 Commission Meeting Updates

The TJPD Commission met on April 10 and addressed the following topics:An update on activities of the Blue Ridge Cigarette Tax Board;Presentation of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization FY26 United Planning Work Program draft; Adoption of the FY26 Rural Work Program;Presentation of the Classification and Compensation Study results; andAppointment of Nominating Committee for TJPDC Officers.The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for May 1. 2025 Regional Housing Summit Recap

Last Thursday, the Regional Housing Partnership hosted 215 people at the Omni in Charlottesville for the third Regional Housing Summit. With an emphasis on finding solutions to the need for affordable housing, speakers addressed tools and strategies that developers, localities, and communities can use to leverage regional resources to ensure safe and stable housing for all.Those in attendance included elected officials, county and city staff, regional planners, housing developers, and non-profit staff that provide housing services. PATH Hosts Transportation Solutions Workshops

PATH has begun hosting Transportation Solutions workshops in communities within the TJPDC region. The first workshop was held on February 18th at Feeding Greene Food Pantry, and another event was held on March 5th at the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority. These events bring together members of the local community to explore public transportation options in the region.Since our program focuses on assisting seniors and individuals with disabilities, we have expanded our partnership with the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) to host transportation workshops at JABA’s community centers in Albemarle,…

March Commission Meeting Updates – 2025 –

The TJPD Commission met on March 6, with the following items on the agenda:1) The VATI Six-Month Presentation was given by Lori Allshouse.2) Sara Pennington presented the FY26 RideShare Program Grant Application and the Draft FY26 Rural Transportation Work Program and Budget.3) The Commission approved the RideShare Commuter Assistance Program Strategic Plan.4) The Commission approved the FY25 Amended Operating Budget. Meet the Staff: Igor Kalina

Igor Kalina, PATH Transportation Counselor Igor joined the TJPDC in January. He has a Master's in Religious Studies from Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and also studied management and international relations at Warsaw University. He has worked for Polish non-governmental organizations focused on educational and cultural projects, the Polish State Archives, and the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity. Rain Barrel Workshop March 6th

This year, the TJPDC is expanding our Rain Barrel Workshop program to all counties in the region, through our partnerships with various organizations. The first workshop of 2025 is hosted with the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District (CSWCD) for Greene County residents.
