The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC) hosted a successful rain barrel workshop in Fluvanna County in partnership with the James River Association and the Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District (TJSWCD) on October 3. TJPDC Joins Firefly, REC in Marking VATI Achievement

TJPDC joined Firefly Fiber Broadband and Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) on September 9 in celebrating the first REC internet connections in Madison County. TJPDC, Firefly and REC are partners in the 2022 Virginia Telecommunication Initiative (VATI)/RISE project, which is administered by the TJPDC and ultimately will make high-speed internet available to more than 36,000 homes and businesses in a 13-county area in Central Virginia.Additional information about this milestone and pictures from the celebration event are available here.

Kaiden Pritchett, Regional Housing VISTA Kaiden joined the TJPDC in August as part of an AmeriCorps Virginia Housing Alliance VISTA project, a statewide intermediary project with 17 Host Sites, that all work to either expand affordable housing opportunities and/or end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Kaiden's role at the PDC will focus on supporting the Central Virginia Regional Housing Partnership (CVRHP). Kaiden is a native of Greene County and attended the University of Richmond. The TJPD Commission met on September 5 and received presentations on the following topics:the HOME/CDBG Program Year 2023 Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report and Draft CAPER;the Virginia Telecommunication Initiative (VATI) 2022 and 2024the Watershed Improvement Program (WIP); andthe Department of Housing and Community Development Planning District Boundary Review.The Commission was also presented the Draft FY26 Projected Operating Budget for review.
