  • FFY 2023 Housing Preservation Grant Awarded

    TJPDC has received the FFY 2023 USDA Rural Development Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) in the amount of $212,435.00. These funds will be available to our Subrecipients as of October 1, 2023. HPG funds will be used for low-income homeowner rehabilitation in the rural regions of the TJPD, up to $5,000 per project. Subrecipients include: Fluvanna/Louisa Housing Foundation, Nelson County Community Development Foundation, Albemarle Home Improvement Program, and Skyline CAP.Additional information on the program can be found on the TJPDC website.

    CA-MPO and SAWMPO Joint Meeting

    On September 27th, the Charlottesville Albemarle MPO (CA-MPO) Policy Board met with the Staunton-Augusta- Waynesboro MPO (SAWMPO) at the Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro for a joint meeting.  The joint meetings between these two MPOs originated as part of a Memorandum of Understanding that was signed in 2017 with the intended purpose of coordinating planning activities of mutual interest to both regions with a specific focus on the I-64/US 250 Corridor.  We are the only two MPOs in the state that regularly meet together, and this joint meeting was an…

    October Commission Meeting Updates

    At its October 5 meeting, the TJPD Commission acted on several important items as follows:FY2025 Projected Operating Budget: The Commission approved an FY2025 projected operating budget to be submitted to the member local governments with TJPDC’s request for local funding for next year. The nearly $53 million budget, which is comprised largely of pass-through funding, establishes revenue sources recommended to meet expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year and includes local dollars with per capita funding at 66 cents per person.     TJPDC Awarded $119,370 DRPT funding for Mobility Management

    The TJPDC’s Regional Transit Partnership was awarded $119,370 from the Department of Rail and Public Transportation for mobility management to start an information and referral center to assist older adults and people with disabilities with finding transportation services. The grant runs during the federal fiscal year and funds will be appropriated starting October 1st.     CEDS Survey for Regional Employers Opens

    The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC) invites all employers in Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson Counties and the City of Charlottesville to take a survey about the local business environment. The survey is part of a collaborative regional planning effort that TJPDC is leading, along with various partners across the region.     FY24 State Budget Adopted

    Governor Glenn Youngkin has signed an amended FY24 budget adopted by the General Assembly in early September. The two main thrusts of the compromise spending plan, which was approved by the legislature on near-unanimous votes, are one-time tax relief and spending on several high priority items.Highlights of budget provisions of primary interest to local governments are available here.
