    The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC) received Virginia Housing PDC Development Grant funds in FY2022 and awarded funds to several development partners. Earlier in 2024, funds in the amount of $660,000 became available for the award at this last stage of the project. Through an RFP process, we sought submissions from for-profit and non-profit developers for projects that would increase the inventory of affordable housing in the region through the development of new units using these funds.     PATH Partners with CAA, BRHD, and InnoVage to Help Older Adults Ride CAT

    The Partnership for Accessible Transportation Help (PATH) is a TJPDC Mobility Management program, designed to help improve and increase transportation options for older adults and other non-drivers. PATH works with transportation providers and helps elders find rides that meet their needs.Recently, as part of the Charlottesville Area Alliance’s (CAA) AARP Livable Community grant, PATH, the Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD), Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) and InnoVage staff worked together to host a group travel training event for seniors.     CEDS Plan Approved by EDA

    TJPDC  is pleased to announce the release of its Comprehensive Economic Development Plan (CEDS). The plan was funded through a  U.S. EDA Economic Adjustment Assistance grant to develop a regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) plan to benefit all TJPDC localities.  A CEDS is meant to integrate with and complement other economic development plans. Rather than being “owned” by any one agency, a CEDS consists of plans of action that may be undertaken by multiple players.     Meet the Staff: Sarah Simba

    Sarah Simba, Regional Planner Sarah joined the TJPDC in May as a Regional Planner and has been working with the Charlottesville-Albemarle MPO and on transportation projects, such as Move Safely Blue Ridge. She graduated from UVA’s Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy in May 2022.     Rain Barrel Workshop

    The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC) hosted a successful rain barrel workshop in Fluvanna County in partnership with the James River Association and the Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District (TJSWCD) on October 3. Participants learned how to assemble and install rain barrels at home and received a 55-gallon drum and a RainRecycle rain barrel kit from The Rain Barrel Depot.Every time it rains, stormwater carries things such as nutrients from fertilizers, bacteria from pet waste, and chemicals from herbicides and pesticides to local waterways.
