Meet the Staff: Taylor Jenkins

Taylor Jenkins, Director of Transportation

Taylor Jenkins joined the TJPDC in January 2025 as Director of Transportation. She holds a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Black/Women’s Studies, all from Virginia Commonwealth University. Taylor is an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) member and joins the PDC after multiple years in state government and the private sector.

Q: What interested you in working at the TJPDC?

Transportation has always been my passion, driven by a deep belief that connected transportation systems with travel options for everyone provide a backbone for strong, sustainable communities. Even after working in state government and at a private consulting firm, the early internships where I worked more locally in public service are still some of the most memorable – as a transit planning intern with GRTC Transit System in Richmond, VA and as a GIS intern with the Richmond City Health District. The TJPDC occupies a unique and impactful space in the region, connecting with member jurisdictions to support their priorities. This role offers the opportunity to work with local governments who are doing on-the-ground work, which I’ve been looking forward to doing again!

Q: What is a hobby or fun fact that you would like to share?

I’m new to Charlottesville! Since moving a couple months ago, I’ve been enjoying getting to explore the region’s parks, restaurants, and coffee shops.
