TJPDC Assists Louisa County with Town Hall Gatherings

Louisa County partnered with TJPDC this winter to seek public input on the County’s Comprehensive Plan Update. County staff developed an extensive survey to gather feedback from Louisa residents and property owners on land use and future growth patterns, transportation, economic development, use of tax revenue, schools, solid waste, and public safety. This information helps elected officials and local government staff understand the community’s long-term vision and priorities.

To broaden access to the survey and engage directly with the community, Louisa County hosted four in-person town hall gatherings where staff from a wide range of County departments answered questions and received comments. TJPDC staff provided community planning information and supported individuals as they filled out surveys. By encouraging robust public participation, County staff underscored the vital role that community members play in shaping local government decisions.

The TJPDC team enjoyed engaging with Louisa County community members and staff. Actively seeking input and fostering open dialogue helps ensures that diverse voices are heard and considered—a critical component for creating a plan that reflects the community’s values and that can be implemented with broad support. The TJPDC team looks forward to seeing the results of this work in a revised Comprehensive Plan that will address future goals and challenges for Louisa County.
