    The TJPD Commission met on March 6, with the following items on the agenda:1) The VATI Six-Month Presentation was given by Lori Allshouse.2) Sara Pennington presented the FY26 RideShare Program Grant Application and the Draft FY26 Rural Transportation Work Program and Budget.3) The Commission approved the RideShare Commuter Assistance Program Strategic Plan.4) The Commission approved the FY25 Amended Operating Budget.  Materials for all TJPD Commission meetings are available here.The Commission’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 10.

    Meet the Staff: Igor Kalina

    Igor Kalina, PATH Transportation Counselor Igor joined the TJPDC in January. He has a Master's in Religious Studies from Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and also studied management and international relations at Warsaw University. He has worked for Polish non-governmental organizations focused on educational and cultural projects, the Polish State Archives, and the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity.     Rain Barrel Workshop March 6th

    This year, the TJPDC is expanding our Rain Barrel Workshop program to all counties in the region, through our partnerships with various organizations. The first workshop of 2025 is hosted with the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District (CSWCD) for Greene County residents. The event, which offers Earth Minded rain barrels at a significantly reduced price ($50), will also be an opportunity for residents to learn about other essential soil & water programs, like septic system maintenance, residential runoff reduction, and lawn soil testing.Every time it rains, stormwater carries nutrients…

    February Commission Meeting Updates – 2025

    New Virginia Population Estimates

    Each year, the Weldon Cooper Center develops and releases official population estimates for Virginia localities, metropolitan and micropolitan areas, and planning district regions to show population counts between decennial censuses. These estimates provide the best approximation of the population count on July 1 of the prior year. State and local governments use this data for funding allocations, planning, and budgeting purposes.The July 1, 2024, population estimate for the TJPDC region was 275,848, which is 12,231 residents, or 4.6% higher than the 2020 Census estimate.
