On January 17, the TJPDC’s 2023 Update of the Regional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan was approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The items reviewed address the planning process, hazard identification and risk assessment, mitigation strategies and plan maintenance.
The plan received a “satisfactory” rating on all required criteria. After this approval, TJPDC began to work to schedule formal adoption dates all governing boards in the region; Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, Town of Louisa, Town of Mineral, Town of Scottsville, and Town of Stanardsville. On February 1, 2023, the plan was adopted by the Fluvanna Board of Supervisors, establishing that date as the formal date of adoption for the plan. TJPDC staff will work to complete the remaining adoptions throughout the spring. The approved plan can be found here: https://tjpdc.org/our-work/hazard-mitigation/.
