Sarah Richardson, PATH Transportation Counselor
Sarah joined the TJPDC this December, and will be assisting older adults and people with disabilities to find transportation options in the region. She studied Applied Behavioral Science and Spanish in college and lived in Mexico as a student. She has previously worked as a volunteer at Innisfree Village just outside of Crozet, and with Action Reconciliation Service for Peace in Germany.
Q: What led you to working at the TJPDC?
A: The majority of my working life I have worked with older adults and adults with developmental disabilities. I have also done a lot of customer service and office jobs. While I was working as a residential manager for a group home, I was responsible for making sure transportation was arranged for the residents of the house. It took several weeks for one of the women who lived there to finally get reliable transportation home to Crozet from her job in Charlottesville. Working with people with disabilities and older adults I became aware of the huge impact transportation, or the lack thereof, can have on a person’s ability to live an independent and self-determined life.
Q: What is a fun fact that you would like to share?
A: I enjoy cooking and being outdoors. One of my favorite things to make is pistachio crusted chicken.
