Public Meeting about a Regional Housing Study
- Wednesday September 18, 2024
- 5:30 pm at Tonsler Park
Come to discuss a proposed Housing Needs Assessment, which will identify what’s happening with housing in the Charlottesville region since the start of the pandemic. For the proposed study, researchers from Virginia Tech will gather data about our region, talk to citizens in focus groups, and identify the current needs and opportunities related to housing for people with low incomes, disabilities, and other priority needs. Researchers will identify the commuting patterns, the amount of a household’s income that is spent on housing, the need for more rental housing, the need for affordable homes to purchase, and potential strategies that localities can use to increase access to affordable housing.
The public meeting on September 18th will give citizens the opportunity to share their perspectives about what might be important to include in such a study, and to give feedback about the planned project.
