TJPDC hosted a regional summit at Charlottesville’s CitySpace on January 10, to launch the Move Safely Blue Ridge Initiative, which targets transportation safety in the region. The regional summit is one of the organization’s first steps in gathering input and engaging community leaders as a part of the development of a transportation-related Safety Action Plan.
Move Safely Blue Ridge will focus on strategies to reduce roadway-related fatalities and serious injuries in the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson. The Safety Action Plan is a part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Discretionary Program and will center on safety improvements for multi-modal means of transportation.
