Staff participated in a field trip to Nelson County on May 6th. Nelson County Administrator, Candy McGarry; Administrative Assistant and Deputy Clerk to the Board, Amanda Spivey; and Director of Planning and Zoning, Dylan Bishop, took us on a tour of the historic Nelson County Courthouse and Circuit Courtroom, and a walking tour of Lovingston. Next, we visited the renovated Nelson Memorial Library and Saunders Brothers Nursery and Farm Market. Seeing the operations of the nursery and one of Nelson County’s larger employers and hearing their feedback on operating in the county was valuable for staff. The day concluded with lunch with the Nelson County staff and a TJPDC staff social event. We look forward to continuing our tour with the remaining localities in FY26!
