After being in various stages of planning and development for many years, Greene County’s water project is on the move! The White Run Reservoir Water Impoundment Project will supply Greene County and the Town of Stanardsville with a reliable water supply into the year 2050.
County officials officially kicked off construction of the project on December 9 with a ground-breaking ceremony for construction of the raw water main that will bring water from the Rapidan River to the reservoir, and a raw water intake and pump station to be placed in the Rapidan to collect water during times of high water. Construction on the project is expected to take several years before coming online.
