Meet the Staff: Bennett Hipp

Bennett Hipp, PATH Transportation Assistant

Bennett joined the TJPDC in January 2026 as the PATH Transportation Assistant. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Journalism and minor in English. Prior to joining TJPDC, he worked for United Way of the Midlands in his hometown of Columbia, South Carolina. At UWM, he worked directly with folks who were either unhoused or at imminent risk of homelessness to get them into emergency shelters, stable housing, rehabilitation or connected to financial assistance programs to retain housing. He also worked with partner agencies to ensure proper implementation of federal HUD guidelines in regard to housing programs.

Q: What interested you in working at the TJPDC?

My dad fought Multiple Sclerosis for 20 years and lost both his ability to walk and drive at various points in that fight. Because of that, I’ve had first-hand experience with how just how hard transportation barriers are to overcome for those with disabilities, and the opportunity to join TDPDC & PATH to work on removing those barriers is something I’m incredibly excited about. It’s important for me to do work that matters and inject some good into the world.

Q: What is a hobby or fun fact that you would like to share?

I’m newly into hiking over the last few years. In October of 2024, my partner, her sister and I thru-hiked the Grand Canyon from rim-to-rim, covering roughly 22 miles down and back up in just over 10 hours.
