Rain Barrel Workshop Program

So far this fiscal year, two successful rain barrel workshops were held across the region in partnership with our local Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the James River Association! Thirty participants from the City of Charlottesville and Fluvanna County learned how to assemble and install rain barrels at home and received a 55-gallon drum.

Every time it rains, stormwater carries things such as fertilizers, pet waste, and chemicals from herbicides and pesticides to local waterways. Using a rain barrel is a way to reduce stormwater pollution and conserve water at home. By collecting hundreds or even thousands of gallons of rainwater annually, these barrels can help residents save money on water and utility fees.

Interested in taking one home for yourself? Join us at the next workshop being held May 21st at 6 pm at Blue Mountain Barrel House in Nelson County. Register here: https://form.jotform.com/form/260354652289968.
