The Commission on Unlocking Housing Production, established by Executive Order 3, met for the first time in early September. The Commission is charged with reviewing and evaluating reports from state agencies on ways to expedite housing production, to include suggestions for legislative, regulatory, and administrative changes to remove barriers and facilitate housing production. It will use work groups to explore those options over the next four to six weeks before gathering again to consolidate feedback.
TJPDC Deputy Director David Blount, who also serves as the Executive Director for the Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions, was tabbed as a member of the Commission, which includes representatives from state government and various stakeholder organizations.
