The grand finale of the Stanardsville’s Streetscape Project came to a close on September 22nd with the unveiling of the new pedestrian bridge.
The 42 foot steel bridge spans Mitchell Creek on the east side of town. The project is part of the multi-year Stanardsville Area Revitalization, STAR project. STAR has been funded by VDOT and a local match, comprised of funds from both individuals and businesses.
With the goal of a more walkable and safe business district, the town has also added new sidewalks along Main Street, and 21 new colonial-style streetlights.
