Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Process Update

The TJPDC was awarded an Economic Adjustment Assistance grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration in 2022 to support the development of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the region. Following a public procurement process, the TJPDC and Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission awarded contracts to Camoin Associates to assist in the development of a CEDS for each region, along with a set of super-regional strategies to support the work of the GO Virginia Region 9 Council

The CEDS process kicked off earlier this year with the formation of a CEDS strategy committee that includes representation from local economic development and tourism staff, community colleges and universities in the region, workforce development and small business development organizations, Chambers of Commerce, and private sector firms. The strategy committee held a kickoff meeting in February and an initial economic and demographic data review meeting in April. The CEDS project is anticipated to be completed in early 2024.
