The Transportation Team both hosted and attended multiple events this fall.
- CA-MPO and SAW- MPO Joint Meeting
Charlottesville-Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization (CA-MPO) and the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro (SAW-MPO) came together on September 30, 2025, for their biennial Joint Policy Board Meeting at the North Fork Meeting Center in Charlottesville. The meeting included presentations on the Afton Express, CARTA, Statewide Rail Planning and the Three Notched Trail. The two MPOs began meeting in 2017 to collaborate on inter-regional transportation planning along the critical I-64 corridor.

Three TJPDC staff members attended the 2025 Governor’s Transportation Conference held last month in Richmond, VA. Staff joined transportation professionals and state leaders from across the Commonwealth to learn about new initiatives, funding programs, and policy priorities that will shape Virginia’s transportation future.
- TJPDC Staff Attended a State of Transit Event in Hampton Roads, VA
Taylor Jenkins and Lucinda Shannon attended the State of Transit event on October 21, 2025, in Hampton Roads, VA. The event brought together transit agencies, planners, and policymakers to discuss the state and future of transit in the Hampton Roads region, offering valuable perspective for the Thomas Jefferson Planning District on innovative approaches to transit service, coordination, and funding.
- Move Safely Blue Ridge Celebration
TJPDC staff, Kimley-Horn, and AvidCore gathered on October 30, 2025, to celebrate the completion of Move Safely Blue Ridge, the region’s Comprehensive Safety Action Plan.
