REGIONAL WATER SUPPLY PLANNING

The TJPDC will be the organizing body for the Middle James 1 watershed, including the Counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, and Louisa. The TJPDC will work with Virginia’s Department of Environmental Quality, localities, public water providers, and other stakeholders to organize the creation of the Regional Water Supply Plan. The plan requires regional collaboration to assess the current and future water needs, identify potential shortages, and develop strategies for sustainable water management. TJPDC will coordinate the overall planning process, including data collection, stakeholder engagement, and regional plan development. Regular meetings and collaboration with local and regional partners will help ensure the plan reflects the unique water supply challenges and priorities of our communities.
