The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission was awarded an $80,000 grant by the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) along with $20,000 local matching funds to develop a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the region. A CEDS provides a vehicle for individuals, organizations, local governments, institutions of learning, and private industry to engage in a meaningful conversation and debate about what capacity building efforts would best serve economic development in the region.
The TJPDC and Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission (RRRC) will work together to identify super-regional strategies, goals, and objectives that will be included in the CEDS for each PDC. The timeframe for completion of the CEDS is 18 months from the grant award.
