    The TJPD Commission met on November 2 and took the following actions:--Approved the TJPDC’s FY23 Financial Audit.--Endorsed TJPDC’s work on a Direct to Partner Initiative (D2PI) for the Septic Well Assistance Program (SWAP) via a cooperative agreement with the Virginia Department of Health; the program provides financial assistance to low-income homeowners for septic system and well repairs and replacements.--Endorsed TJPDC providing support and assistance to the Town of Mineral’s update to its Comprehensive Plan.--Approved a letter of support for Greene County for a FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Grant.--Approved…

    TJPDC Participates in United Way Day of Caring

    On September 20, TJPDC staff participated in the United Way's 32nd Annual Day of Caring event. Staff worked at Central Elementary School in Palmyra painting two areas used for recess. "Helping to repaint the elementary school blacktop on the Day of Caring was incredibly rewarding," said Isabella O'Brien, TJPDC Environmental Planner.  "The genuine care for the students shown by their staff reminded me of the amazing experience I had as a student there for six years.     FFY 2023 Housing Preservation Grant Awarded

    TJPDC has received the FFY 2023 USDA Rural Development Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) in the amount of $212,435.00. These funds will be available to our Subrecipients as of October 1, 2023. HPG funds will be used for low-income homeowner rehabilitation in the rural regions of the TJPD, up to $5,000 per project. Subrecipients include: Fluvanna/Louisa Housing Foundation, Nelson County Community Development Foundation, Albemarle Home Improvement Program, and Skyline CAP.Additional information on the program can be found on the TJPDC website.
