New Mobility Management Services Launch

New Ride Finding Service for Older Adults and People With DisabilitiesTJPDC and JABA’s new mobility management program is now taking calls from older adults and people with disabilities who need rides in Region 10. Staff is working with CAT, Jaunt, UTS and other transportation providers to help people find rides. There is no charge for the transportation counseling service and anyone can call the toll-free number, 888-879-7379, to receive help navigating the public transportation system.Staff will also be recording unmet transportation needs to use in developing solutions for future years.…

The 2024 General Assembly is Underway

The 2024 General Assembly session gaveled to order on Wednesday, January 10. The operative word for this session is NEW.....a new legislative building, a lot of new faces (more than one third of the members in both the House and Senate are new), and certainly new ideas. The session runs 60 days and is scheduled to end on March 9. During the course of the session, legislators likely will consider close to 2,500 bills and hundreds of resolutions. TJPDC Applies for VATI 2024 Broadband Funding

To advance the objective of providing universal broadband access to all underserved and unserved areas in Central Virginia, the TJPDC again has partnered with Firefly Fiber Broadband in applying for an additional $15.7 million in 2024 Virginia Telecommunication Initiative (VATI) funding through the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).
