    Firefly Fiber Broadband, TJPDC, local governments and broadband partners celebrated a milestone of 40,000 fiber broadband connections at an event in Louisa County on August 6. The celebration highlighted the continued expansion of broadband into rural areas of Central Virginia by Firefly and its utility partners, which is supported by the Virginia Telecommunication Initiative (VATI) broadband grants administered by the TJPDC. Specifically highlighted was more than 900 miles of fiber placement and nearly 12,000 passings achieved in Louisa County, where about 95% of the VATI work is complete. Deputy Director David…

    PATH, AARP of Virginia, the Charlottesville Area Alliance, and MPact are seeking volunteers to participate in virtual focus groups to share their perspectives on public transit, covering topics such as perceptions, barriers, needs, and recurring themes.The focus groups are part of the "Listening & Storytelling for Inclusive Transit: Understanding Older Adults’ Transportation Needs in Region 10" project.     2025 Housing Preservation Grant Public Comment Period Opens

    The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission invites all interested citizens to comment on the proposed Statement of Activities to be submitted as the pre-application for FFY25 Housing Preservation Grant funds.The USDA Rural Development Housing Preservation Grant allows the TJPDC region to provide critical repairs to homes of low- and extremely low-income rural homeowners. The application describes how the participating jurisdiction intends to use such grant funds.     PATH offers Transportation Assistance Fund

    PATH offers financial assistance for individuals facing urgent transportation needs that other transportation services can't meet.The Transportation Assistance Fund (TAF) is a last resort for older adults and people with disabilities who live in areas where there are few transportation options. The TAF serves the city of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson.  PATH can help with covering the cost of transportation in critical situations.
