    Both the HOME Consortium Draft 2025 Annual Action Plan and the Charlottesville-Albemarle MPO Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) are open for public comment.The Thomas Jefferson HOME Consortium is administered by the TJPDC for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Annual Action Plan is for Program Year 2025. The HOME Consortium is made up of all member jurisdictions in the TJPDC, and each locality has chosen HOME subrecipients.  The public comment period is from April 14- May 15, 2025, and the draft plan can be found online…

    Rain Barrel Workshops

    The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission hosted two successful rain barrel workshops in Greene and Albemarle Counties this Spring in partnership with our local Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the James River Association. Participants learned how to assemble and install rain barrels at home and received a 55-gallon drum. Every time it rains, stormwater carries things such as nutrients from fertilizers, bacteria from pet waste, and chemicals from herbicides and pesticides to local waterways. Using a rain barrel at home is a way to reduce stormwater pollution and conserve water.…

    April 2025 Commission Meeting Updates

    The TJPD Commission met on April 10 and addressed the following topics:An update on activities of the Blue Ridge Cigarette Tax Board;Presentation of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization FY26 United Planning Work Program draft; Adoption of the FY26 Rural Work Program;Presentation of the Classification and Compensation Study results; andAppointment of Nominating Committee for TJPDC Officers.The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for May 1.     2025 Regional Housing Summit Recap

    Last Thursday, the Regional Housing Partnership hosted 215 people at the Omni in Charlottesville for the third Regional Housing Summit. With an emphasis on finding solutions to the need for affordable housing, speakers addressed tools and strategies that developers, localities, and communities can use to leverage regional resources to ensure safe and stable housing for all.Those in attendance included elected officials, county and city staff, regional planners, housing developers, and non-profit staff that provide housing services.     PATH Hosts Transportation Solutions Workshops

    PATH has begun hosting Transportation Solutions workshops in communities within the TJPDC region. The first workshop was held on February 18th at Feeding Greene Food Pantry, and another event was held on March 5th at the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
